True Count: The adjusted count at blackjack that reflects the count per remaining decks.
True Odds: The actual probability of an event happening.
Twenty-One: Another name for blackjack.
Two Pair: A hand at poker consisting of two separate pairs.
Underground Joint: An illegal casino.
Unfavorable Deck: A deck in blackjack that favors the casino. Up Card: Any card that is dealt face up.
Variable Programming: A type of programming that allows the computer to stop a hand that is about to be dealt in favor of a different hand. This is done to prevent big winning hands from appearing their theoretical number of times. One of the methods used for cheatingor "fixing" a video-poker machine to have it perform as a slot machine.
Vic: A sucker. Short for victim.
Vig or Vigorish: The casino tax on a bet. Also known as juice.
Virgin Principle: The superstition that a beginner will have luck. Also known as beginner's luck.
Volatility: The tendency of a video-poker game to have many losing sessions punctuated by explosive winning sessions.
Wager: Another term for a bet.
Wash: One bet cancels out another bet.
Wild Card: A card that can be used for any other card in a game. Working Bet: A bet at craps that is at risk.
Wrong Bettor: A player who bets against the shooter and with the seven.
